Hello there! I’m Mariko. I’m a licensed Tour Guide. I was born in Fukushima and that’s where I live now, but I also lived in Tokyo for more than 30 years. Before that, I lived in Germany for three years. I have worked for an American company, a French company and a Japanese company and I have made a lot of business and personal trips to the US, Europe and Asia. Now I teach English to Japanese people and Japanese to foreigners, as well as being a tour guide. So, I think I’m quite international at this point.
My hobbies are mountain climbing, walking through the streets of the cities and towns, and Aikido, which is one of the martial arts. I also like eating local foods and drinking sake and meeting people.

I have registered to more than ten translation companies in Tokyo. I have translated various kinds of fields, including nuclear power, building, civil engineering and welding. My house (already demolished) used to be in No-Go Zone. I’m quite familiar with this area, who runs a hotel for visiting people, for example. After the earthquake disaster, I confirmed the safety of foreigners living in the city and told the evacuated citizens about the situation of the town through webpage. I also evacuated to Miyagi, but I was able to use the lifeline at my home safely, so I returned home in about one week. I am currently a coastal field partner.
