Fukushima March 11 Memorial Park

The Fukushima March 11 Memorial Park was created in Futaba to commemorate those who lost their lives in the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. The park is part of a wider area dedicated to remembering the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident.At the centre of the park is the main memorial facility, consisting of a gently sloping hill with a flower offering area and a reflection pool monument inside. From the top, visitors can look across the surrounding landscape and leave flowers in remembrance.The park is connected by a bridge to the Great East Japan Earthquake and Nuclear Disaster Memorial Museum, allowing visitors to combine the outdoor site with exhibitions documenting the disaster and its aftermath.
